Automobile Insurance: Road Safety, New Drivers, Risks, Insurance Fraud and Regulation (Huebner International Series on Risk, Insurance and Economic Security)

Automobile Insurance: Road Safety, New Drivers, Risks, Insurance Fraud and Regulation (Huebner International Series on Risk, Insurance and Economic Security) Review

Automobile Insurance: Road Safety, New Drivers, Risks, Insurance Fraud and Regulation (Huebner International Series on Risk, Insurance and Economic Security) Overview

Motor vehicle accidents are still a leading cause of death, even if the trend has somewhat declined over the past 20 years. Indeed, motor vehicle accidents are a significant cause of death in comparison with air and space transport accidents, homicides and even HIV infections, causes which are more often highlighted in the media. As shown in this book, motor vehicle accidents are particularly damaging to very young drivers. The assessment of driving risks is a common concern for road transportation safety and the automobile insurance industry. In both cases, there is an awareness of the great losses resulting from the deaths, injuries and property damage caused by traffic accidents. Research is essential to counteract this public health threat, to assess the success or failure of countermeasures, and to solve the problems it generates in the insurance industry. This book is for people concerned about road crashes (prevention and compensation) and about the insurance problems they pose -- namely private and public institutional authorities, consultants, administrators, practitioners, and researchers interested in sharing the authors' experience in this domain. The book presents original contributions related to motor vehicle insurance and road safety. All papers have been evaluated by external referees. Four subjects are covered: 1) Automobile Insurance Pricing, Risks and Asymmetric Information; 2) Insurance Fraud; 3) Young Drivers: Licensing Policies, Evaluation and Risks; and 4) Road Insurance Regulation.

International Rental Car Insurance

If you are making a trip for a few days to another state or country, you may want to rent a car to either make the trip with or to use when you get there. You can rent a car as soon as you get off the plane: Just find the right desk and wait in line. When you get to the front of the line, you will be able to talk to someone about renting a car and make payment arrangements right there.

How Rental Cars Work

Rental Cars are fast and easy to obtain and you can get almost any car you'd like, depending on how much you'd like to spend. The rent is added up by a total service charge, a daily fee, gas, mileage, and the type of car it is. Generally a few days shouldn't cost you more than a few hundred dollars total.

Insurance

While you're setting everything up for your rental car, they will ask you if you would like to purchase the insurance. This insurance will usually be around $100 and will cover anything. You can pretty much total the car and they will still tell you to have a nice day when you bring it back to them. You can find a good rental service either in the airport after you land or on the Internet before you leave. Just search on the for rental cars insurance or rental service car insurance. Once you find one that looks good, run another search for reviews.

NBA Reminds Teams Not To Stop Players From Playing In International Competitions

The NBA reminded the teams that they should not stop their players from playing in international competitions. This reminder came shortly after Manu Ginobili said that the Spurs were doing just that.

The NBA had sent out a memo on May 2, 2007 to all the clubs that said as per the agreement the NBA had with FIBA, NBA teams had to allow their players to play in major national team competition provided sufficient insurance was obtained.

These major national team competitions include Olympics, world championships, continental championships and other qualifying tournaments.

Earlier Ginobili had said the he would not be playing for Argentina in the regional Olympic qualifying game in Las Vegas because the Spurs had requested him to skip the game and coach Gregg Popovich had given reasonable arguments to that effect. Argentina is the defending Olympic champion.

Popovich knows that ultimately it is player who has to make the decision about not playing in national team competitions and games. Popovich agrees that he and the team had advised him not to play the qualifier because they had a huge investment in him.

Walter Herrmann from Argentina will also not be playing in the FIBA Americas tournament. Herrmann said that it was requested by the Charlotte Bobcats as he got injured in September 2006 after playing in the world championships.

USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo said that the players would feel a lot more comfortable about playing for their national teams if they had the support of their NBA clubs.

At the moment, Colangelo is waiting for Memphis forward Mike Miller to accept his invitation to play but Miller is taking time to respond as he wants to be sure that everyone one in his team is supportive of his decision.

NBA teams are not allowed to ban players from playing in international competitions and the league does not want the teams from stopping the players if they want to play.

Purchasing International Real Estate - Worldwide Property Investment

Interested in investing somewhere other than your back yard?

Management companies have made it as easy to have a revenue property across the world as it is to have it across the street. You don't want to be collecting rents and plunging the toilets no matter WHERE it is!

Different laws in different countries means some research is definitely in order. Some countries don't allow you to own the land, you have to lease it. Check on title insurance to make SURE you really own it.

And just as people have bought swamp land in the United States, you need to actually VISIT your property - look at it, make sure that it is in a good area, and looks to be a good investment.

Pictures can be VERY deceiving, and if your lot is next to the city dump, for example - it'll be hard to make a profit on it! Put at least as much effort into buying a $200,000 piece of real estate as you would into buying a $10,000 used car. You'd definitely want to see it, inspect it closely, go for a spin around the block and see how it performs on the highway. Okay, that's tough to do with a piece of land, but take a walk around, get in an inspector, ask the neighbours what they think.

Probably the most important aspect of buying a property in another country is the managment company. If it is rented out, and rents rise, over time, the property will pay for itself, and pay off the mortage. In other words, with rising rents, you basically get revenue properties for free, over time. The renters pay your mortgage.

BUT.....

If you have tenant troubles, people moving in and out and big costs for re-renting, repair and renovation on an ongoing basis, let alone outright destruction - you may never see that happy day when the mortgage is paid off and some appreciation has occurred. The management company is either really good, concerned about your investment, or it is careless. Over time, THIS is the most crucial part of your investment, and should be VERY closely looked at. Talking to other clients is a quick way to get a read on their performance, and you should ask for these types of references.

Any real estate investment needs to be held on a long term basis to allow rising rents and rising property values to almost automatically make you money. A short term hold goes against these trends, especially when you factor in realtor fees, and development company profits if it is new construction. Make sure that it will truly be a "hands off" investment, and hopefully it will yield some headache free profits!
